WBC Interim Super Welterweight champ Vergil Ortiz Jr (24-0, 22 KOs) did not disappoint in his defeat of Erickson Lubin (27-3, 18 KOs) needing only two rounds to accomplish the feat at the sold out Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas and live on DAZN worldwide.
The opener proved to be tentative from both men with Ortiz finding a home for his right hand. In the second now able to gauge the range, Ortiz landed with big Left / Right hands that Lubin had no answer to, the referee stepped in between the two fighters to call a halt to the fight.
The attention now refocuses on Ortiz Jr and Boots Ennis, one of the biggest fights in boxing.
“Do you got a yes for me,” Ortiz asked Ennis at the end of the exchange.
“Yes,” Ennis said definitively.”
“It’s the best fight in boxing,” Ennis told DAZN. “He done a great job. He looked good. But I’m going to show the world why I’m the best in the world.
“I’m going to back it up and show the world why I’m the best in the world.”
Ennis and Ortiz proceeded to go into a back
“Your dad was the first one that said I was ducking. It’s on video. It is on video.,” Ortiz proclaimed.
“We didn’t get an offer.”
“It don’t matter. The time is now,” Ennis retorted. “Let’s get this money and make this fight happen.
“It does matter, Ortiz fired back. Because you said I was ducking. We started talking after you guys started talking. It’s retaliation.”
“I’m going to make you pay for everything they said,” Ennis fired back.
