Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford (42-0, 31 KOs) defeated undisputed super middleweight champion Saul ‘Canelo’ Álvarez (63-3-2, 39 KOs) by unanimous decision on Saturday night at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Crawford began the better of the two, boxing behind a solid jab as Canelo appeared to be playing the long game. He cautiously stalked his opponent while being countered.

This continued after the halfway point with Crawford mixing shots to the head and body. Canelo appeared visibly frustrated by the moving target and attempted unsuccessfully to trap the Omaha native with little effort as the rounds progressed.

The Championship rounds were characterised by a competitive exchange of shots between the men.

Both raised their hands in victory but it was Crawford who would take the plaudits and the titles with a decision rendered of 116-112, 115-113, and 115-113

“I don’t know, I’ve got to sit down with my team and we’ll talk about it,” Crawford said on his future aspirations.

Whilst Canelo added “I feel great to share the ring with great fighters like him. If we do it again then it’ll be great,”

“My legacy is already there and I like taking risks because I love boxing.”
