There was no controversy this time around. Unbeaten WBC/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (24-0, 15 KOs) ruthlessly knocked out IBF heavyweight ruler “Dynamite” Daniel Dubois (22-3, 21 KOs) in the fifth round on Saturday night in front of 90,000+ spectators at Wembley Stadium in London.
Usyk picked apart the challenge of Dubois with the jab before dropping the Londoner twice in the fifth, with Dubois being counted out at 1:52.
“Thirty-eight is a young guy; 38 is only the start,” Usyk said in the ring afterward.
“Maybe Tyson Fury,” he said when asked whom he will fight next. “Maybe Derek Chisora, maybe Anthony Joshua, maybe Joseph Parker. I don’t know.”
Former WBO cruiserweight king Lawrence Okolie (22-1, 16 KOs) scored a one-sided ten-round unanimous decision over Kevin Lerena ( 31-3, 15 KOs). In a rather straightforward victory, Okolie controlled the bout from start to finish. Scores of 99-91, 100-90, and 100-90 were rendered by the judges at ringside.
