WBO junior lightweight world champion Emanuel Navarrete (40-2-1, 32 KOs) may have looked drained on the scales but again he went to war to successfully defend his titles via seventh round technical decision against previously unbeaten Charly Suarez (18-1, 10 KOs) on Saturday night at Pechanga Arena in San Diego, California.
Navarrete rocked Suarez in the opener whilst Suarez had his own moments later in the bout. Navarrete suffered a deep cut over his left eye in round six which would go to the scorecards which had Navarrete prevailing by scores of 78-75, 77-76, 77-76.
Lightweight Raymond Muratalla (23-0, 17 KOs) scored a twelve round unanimous decision over Zaur Abdullaev (20-2, 12 KOs) to claim the vacant IBF interim 135lb world title. Scores were 119-109, 119-109, 118-110.
Former world title challenger Giovani Santillan (34-1, 18 KOs) scored a ten round unanimous decision over Angel Beltran (18-3, 11 KOs). Scores were 97-93 across the board.
Super featherweight Anthony Cacace (24-1, 9 KOs) stopped Leigh Wood (28-4, 17 KOs) in the ninth round on Saturday night at the Nottingham Arena in Nottingham, England.
Cacace hurt Wood with a body shot before a barrage of shots left Wood’s corner with no option but to throw in the towel.
Former world title challenger Erickson “The Hammer” Lubin (27-2, 19 KOs) scored an eleventh round TKO over previously unbeaten Ardreal “Bossman” Holmes Jr (17-1, 6 KOs) on Saturday night at the Silver Spurs Arena in Kissimmee, Florida.
Lupin outworked Holmes, dropping the latter in the eleventh before the referees stoppage came shortly thereafter. Time was 2:00.
