WBC, WBA, WBO unified heavyweight king Oleksandr Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) remained undefeated with the twelve round decision over former heavyweight champion Tyson “The Gypsy King” Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) on Saturday night at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Close rounds gave viewers an headache in picking a winner as both employed tactical warfare. Usyk landed two big left hands in round four. Fury connected with some hard shots in round five. It seemed like the bout was ebb and flow throughout as both men believed to have done enough as the bout came to a close but it was Usyk who took the judges eye with three identical scores of 116-112.

“I win,” said Usyk “I win, thank you God. I had good preparation, my wife helped me. For me this is a very happy day. My son won his judo belt and said to me, ‘Papa, you are next’.”

Usyk was then confronted by fellow world champion Daniel Dubois who was beaten by Ukrainian. “Make me a fight with Daniel Dubois,” he added. The winner then teared up as he dedicated his victory to his mum.

Fury did not speak afterwards but promoter Frank Warren gave his view. “It’s impossible,” he said. “How did Tyson only get four rounds in this fight? I’m not biased. Everyone across the front all thought the same way. It’s nuts. Did you only give him four rounds. Nuts. I don’t get it. Really disappointed with that. I thought Tyson was in control. Thought he boxed extremely well. But anyway. It is what it is.”
