Former 122-pound champion Angelo Leo (25-1, 12 KOs) delivered a stunning tenth-round knockout to dethrone IBF featherweight titleholder Luis Alberto “Venado” Lopez (30-3, 17 KOs) on Saturday night at Tingley Coliseum in Leo’s hometown of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Despite Lopez’s unorthodox style posing challenges early on, Leo found his rhythm and ended the bout decisively with a powerful left hook in the tenth round, leaving Lopez unable to beat the count.
In a showdown between unbeaten junior welterweights, Lindolfo Delgado (21-0, 15 KOs) secured a ten-round unanimous decision over Bryan Flores (26-1-1, 15 KOs). Delgado knocked Flores down in the third round, and Flores was later penalized a point in the seventh round for a questionable low blow. The final scores were 95-93, 96-92 in favor of Delgado, and 96-92 for Flores, sparking mixed reactions from the crowd.
Local undefeated flyweight Matthew Griego (14-0, 10 KOs) dominated late replacement Gilberto Mendoza (23-18-4, 11 KOs) in an eight-round rematch, winning every round on all three scorecards (80-72). This victory mirrors Griego’s previous shutout win over Mendoza in June 2022, where he secured a six-round unanimous decision.
Junior middleweight contender Vito Mielnicki Jr. (19-1, 12 KOs) made his Top Rank debut with a second-round disqualification victory over Laszlo Toth (32-9-2, 20 KOs).
