Unbeaten WBC #2 super welterweight Vergil Ortiz Jr. (22-0, 21 KOs) captured the WBC interim title with a hard-fought twelve-round majority decision over Serhii “El Flaco” Bohachuk (24-2, 23 KOs) on Saturday night at the Michelob ULTRA Arena in Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, Las Vegas.

From the opening bell, both fighters went toe-to-toe in a relentless battle. Bohachuk was awarded a retroactive first-round knockdown after video review, but Ortiz often appeared to land the more effective shots.

In the eighth round, Bohachuk scored another flash knockdown, only for Ortiz to respond with furious aggression, rocking Bohachuk multiple times in the later rounds. The judges scored the bout 113-113, 114-112, and 114-112, in favor of Ortiz.

A potential showdown with WBA champion Terence “Bud” Crawford could be next for Ortiz.

WBC #3 super welterweight Charles “Bad News” Conwell (20-0, 15 KOs) delivered a crushing second-round knockout against Khiary Gray (18-7, 13 KOs). A vicious body shot sent Gray to the canvas, ending the fight at 2:32 of round two.

WBA #1 super lightweight Kenneth “Bossman” Sims Jr. (21-2-1, 8 KOs) dominated former super bantamweight world champion and late replacement Jonathan Romero (35-5, 19 KOs) over five rounds of action-packed fighting. Romero’s corner threw in the towel at the end of the fifth round, halting the bout.

Undefeated IBF female flyweight champion Gabriela “Sweet Poison” Fundora (14-0, 6 KOs) successfully defended her title with a commanding ten-round unanimous decision over Daniela “La Leona” Asenjo (16-3-3, 2 KOs). The towering 5’9 Fundora controlled the fight from start to finish, winning all rounds on the judges’ scorecards, 100-90 across the board.

Welterweight prospect Joel Iriarte (4-0, 4 KOs) continued his knockout streak, stopping Miguel Ortiz.
