Jesse “BAM” Rodriguez (20-0, 13 KOs) sensationally dethroned WBC super flyweight champion Juan Francisco “Gallo” Estrada (44-4, 28 KOs) with a stunning seventh-round knockout on Saturday night at the Footprint Center in Glendale, Arizona. The thrilling bout saw BAM drop Estrada with a straight left hand in the fourth round. After the round, a disoriented Estrada mistakenly went to Rodriguez’s corner. BAM continued to dominate in the fifth round, rocking Estrada once again. Despite Estrada rallying to drop BAM with a right hand in the sixth round, BAM sealed his victory with a devastating liver shot in the seventh round, ending the fight at 3:00. Estrada has indicated that he plans to exercise his rematch clause.

In a flyweight contest between former world champions, Sunny Edwards (21-1, 4 KOs) outboxed Adrian Curiel (24-6-1, 5 KOs) to secure a nine-round technical decision. Despite Curiel’s aggression, Edwards’ mobility largely neutralized his attacks. The bout was stopped at the beginning of the ninth round due to a severe gash Edwards sustained from a head clash in the sixth round. The judges scored the fight 90-82, 88-84, and 87-85 in favor of Edwards.

WBC female super bantamweight champion Yamileth Mercado (24-3, 5 KOs) defended her title successfully, defeating Ramla Ali (9-2, 2 KOs) over ten rounds with scores of 98-92, 98-93, and 97-93.

In a clash between unbeaten super bantamweights, Arturo Cardenas (15-0-1, 8 KOs) won a ten-round majority decision over Danny Barrios (15-2, 5 KOs). The judges scored the fight 95-95, 97-93, and 96-94.

Unbeaten bantamweight Gabriel Muratalla (12-0, 6 KOs) earned an eight-round unanimous decision over with scores of 79-73, 78-74, and 77-75.
