Former undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney (30-0, 15 KOs) got a new home, making himself comfortable by dethroning WBC super lightweight champion Regis Prograis (29-1, 24 KOs) on Saturday night at the Chase Center in San Francisco.
Haney looked impressive at the introduction to lightweight, dropping Prograis in the third whilst never allowing the now former champ to get a foothold in the bout. Haney handily won on all scorecards by 120-107.
‘We got a lot of options, we talked about going to 147,’ Haney said. ‘We’re gonna talk to the team and see what’s next.’
‘I felt so much stronger in this camp, I felt great. 140, you got a new king.’
In the super lightweight co-feature bout, Liam Paro (24-0, 15 KO’s) destroyed Montana Love (18-2-1, 9 KO’s) in the sixth round. Paro stalked Love before landing an uppercut thats dropped Love. He managed to get to his feet but was sent down again via a combination before the fight was halted.
Cuba lightweight Andy Cruz (2-0, 1 KO) stopped Jovanni Straffon (26-6-1, 19 KO’s) in the third round. Cruz relentlessly attacked Straffon before the fight was waved off.
