Light flyweight ruler Kenshiro Teraji (22-1, 14 KOs) kept hold of his WBC/WBA titles with an impressive ninth round TKO over two-division world champion Hekkie Budler (35-5, 11 KOs) on Monday night at Ariake Arena in Tokyo, Japan.
In a fascinating affair, both men stood toe to toe, exchanging shots in a full blooded encounter to give the packed arena a superb spectacle. Teraji finally made his mark in the ninth, landing a hard right hand to stop Budler in his tracks, reeling against the ropes until the referee stepped between the two men to halt the action. Time was 2:19.
WBO 115-pound champion Junto Nakatani was successful in the first defence of his crown, decisioning Mexican Argi Cortes via scores of 119-106 twice, 118-107. Cortes was down three times on route to the contests finish in another superb showing from the Japanese star.
Tenshin Nasukawa (2-0) continues to live up to his billing as one of the sports best up and coming talents with the lopsided decision victory over Luis Guzman (10-3, 6 KOs) over eight on Monday in Tokyo, Japan. Tenshin dropped Guzman three times in the contest to hammer home his dominant performance.
