Chris Eubank Jr (33-3, 24 KOs) reversed an earlier loss to former WBO jr middleweight champion Liam “Beefy” Smith (33-4-1, 20 KOs) with a one-sided beat down, before stopping his man in the tenth on Saturday night at the AO Arena in Manchester, England.

Eubank was in the mood to make a statement, dropping Smith in the fourth with an uppercut to push home that thought process. Eubank dominated thereafter stalking Smith who was hoping to land another shot as he did in their previous encounter. Eubank remained undaunted, looking more composed under the guidance of Brian Mcintyre, as he dropped Smith again in the tenth, this time he wasn’t about to be left off the hook as the referee called an halt to the fight following the barrage of punches landed by Eubank. Time was 1:45.

Chris Eubank Jr speaking on Sky Sports after his TKO win over Liam Smith: “It had to be, I had no other choice. There are too many fights out there that I want to be in. Liam is a warrior, I respect him and his whole team. He didn’t give up and he fought to the last second.

“I’m not going to lie. What happened tonight was supposed to happen in January. I trained hard, the focus is always there and I dedicate my life it this sport. I see the names ringside. I’m coming for you Conor [Benn], I’m coming for you Kell [Brook].”

On dealing with the January loss: “The weight had nothing to do with it. It just wasn’t my night. I’m not a pretender. I’m turning a few people round on the journey.”

On his new team: “They all add percentages and what’ve learned over the years is you have to take all percentages you can. There’s some tough, tough men out there.”

On his next fight: “I want to fight GGG [Gennady Golovkin]. I don’t know where he is right now, but wherever you are, I want to take one of those belts.”
