WBO middleweight world champion Janibek “Qazaq Style” Alimkhanuly (14-0, 9 KOs) wasted little time in his title defence against Steven Butler (32-4-1, 26 KOs) on Saturday night at Stockton Arena in Stockton, California, putting his man on the canvas three times in the second round before fight was stopped. Time was 2:25.
Alimkhanuly continued his challenge to the rest of the division, saying “Champions. Boxing superstars! Where are you? I am waiting. Let’s fight. I am the most avoided boxer. I am the middleweight king. Let’s go. Let’s fight. I am ready for anybody. Anytime. Anywhere.”

it was a case of third time lucky for the Jason “Mayhem” Moloney (26-2, 19 KOs) who hindered by a broken hand early in the fight was able to use an effective jab to outbox Vincent Astrolabio (18-4, 13 KOs) for a majority decision win. Moloney, in his third world title challenge. Scores were 114-114, 115-113, 116-112.
Moloney said afterwards, “I thought I won it going away, but all that matters is the victory. And now I have this belt for the rest of my life. I broke my hand in the third or fourth round. It hurt every time I threw it. But I knew this was my last chance to make my dream come true.
“This is half the job done for Team Moloney. Next week, [twin brother] Andrew will join me as champion of the world.”
Stockton-born lightweight Gabriel Flores Jr. (22-2, 8 KOs) annihilated Derrick Murray (17-9-1, 6 KOs) in 30 seconds. A left hook producing the finish.
Featherweight contender Ruben Villa IV (20-1, 7 KOs) stopped Maickol Villagrana (16-5, 8 KOs) in the fifth.
Junior middleweight Amado Fernando Vargas (7-0, 2 KOs) defeated Bernardo Manzano (2-5, 0 KOs) over four rounds. Scores were all 40-35.
Javier Martinez (8-0-1, 2 KOs) and Joeshon James (7-0-1, 4 KOs) couldn’t be separated on the judges scorecards who had it a draw. Scores where 79-73 James, 77-75 Martinez, 76-76.
Unbeaten welterweight Brian Norman Jr. (24-0, 19 KOs) outpointed Jesus Perez (24-5, 18 KOs) over eight rounds by scores of 77-75, 77-75, 78-74.
