In the current climate, fight fans are eager to recoup their monies worth from fight cards, so to that end WBC/IBF/WBO titleholder Amanda Serrano (44-2-1, 30 KOs) is providing entertainment in its entirety. Not for the first time, Serrano went to war, facing her head on was the gutsy Erika Cruz (15-2, 3 KOs) who was in no mood to just step aside on Saturday night at the Hulu Theater inside Madison Square Garden in New York City.
The touch paper was lit from the opener, Serrano and Cruz engaging in great two-way action to bring fight fans to their feet. Cruz sported a nasty cut in the third round following an accidental headbutt that seemed to further spur on the Mexican. Cruz throwing caution to the wind, threw every shot with intentions of a knockout but it was she who would get rocked by a solid shot from the champion in the sixth. Inevitably, Cruz slowed thereafter as Serrano took over to win scores on the judges scorecards of 98-92, 98-92, 97-93 in another great advert for the female side of .
Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn announced that Serrano will now face Katie Taylor in a rematch on May 20 in Ireland.

Also on the undercard WBC/IBF/WBO titleholder Alycia Baumgardner (14-1, 7 KOs) added the vacant WBA title to her collection with a ten round decision victory over Elhem Mekhaled (15-2, 3 KOs). Baumgardner dropped Mekhaled twice in round three to whisk the scorecards by 99-89, 99-89, 98-90.
Undefeated Super lightweight Richardson Hitchins (16-0, 7 KOs) handed John Bauza (17-1, 7 KOs) his first career loss on-route to a decision victory. Hitchins was somewhat fortunate to have scored a knockdown in the first round that on later reflection looked like he stepped on Bauza’s foot but fortune didnt come into play in the fourth with Hitchins dropping his man twice with a straight right hand. Scores at the end of the encounter were 100-88 3x.
Flyweight Yankiel Rivera (3-0, 2 KOs) won a tough eight round unanimous decision over Fernando Diaz (11-3-1, 3 KOs). Scores were 79-73, 79-73, 78-74.,
Featherweight Skye Nicolson (6-0, 0 KOs) handed Tania Alvarez (7-1, 1 KO) her first loss to win the WBC silver title with scores of 100-90, 98-92, 97-93.
