The news breaking today is that Stephen Fulton will defend his unified WBC/WBO junior featherweight titles against Japanese Superstar Naoya Inoue on a date expected to be in the spring of 2023.

It comes after Inoue vacated his undisputed bantamweight crown to resume his quest to win a fourth weight title.

In a refreshing change for the sport of boxing, the fighters actively looking for the best possible match-up, took matters into their own hands in order to get the negotiations started.

Fulton is coming off a unanimous decision win over Daniel Roman in June in defence of his titles whilst Inoue cleaned up the remnants of the Bantamweight division with a stoppage victory over the now former IBF champ Paul Butler in December, becoming the first Asian boxer to claim undisputed champion status in the multi-belt era.
