We have run out of superlatives to offer in response to the domination of the “Monster” Naoya Inoue (22-0, 19 KOs), the fact remains that he is as close to being unbeatable as there is in the sport of boxing, proving the theory again on Tuesday night with a stoppage win over Aran Dipaen (12-3, 11 KOs) in Tokyo, Japan.

Dipaen in his defence provided a sterner resolve than that we gave him credit for, showing a decent offence whilst possessing the courage to survive the eight rounds that the bout lasted, but in doing so it amplified the gulf in level between the two combatants.

Inoue was in ‘seek and destroy’ mode from start to finish, landing with an assortment of shots that in the seventh would badly wobble the Thai challenger before a left hook found its mark for the first knockdown. Dipaen found his feet gallantly but soon thereafter another left hook called into action referee Michiaki Someya who halted the contest.

It was another impressive display from Inoue who showcased his formidable talent, one such being a triple uppercut (shown below)

On the nights undercard, Masataka Taniguchi took ownership of the WBO Minimumweight title via eleventh round stoppage of Wilfredo Mendez.

Taniguchi, dropped the now previous champion in the second before securing the victory in the eleventh with referee Nobuto Ikehara calling an halt to the sustained punishment that the Japanese fighter was dishing out.

I've been in the boxing industry for over 16 years but been a fan for almost double that figure. I'm the proud owner of TopClassBoxing which continues to go from strength to strength as we strive to give fight fans a voice to be heard amongst the community. I've also had several articles published by reputable magazines and you can usually catch me around ringside.
