Former World title challenger Jay Harris (18-2, 9 KOs) suffered heartbreak in his attempts of redemption last night, Flyweight Ricardo Sandoval (19-1, 14 KOs) delivering the hammer blow in knocking out the Swansea man in the eighth round at Bolton Stadium in Bolton, England.
Sandoval found a home for his left hook, dropping Harris in the seventh before the full count in the subsequent round.
Initially Harris’ jab was having success throughout the early parts of the contest whilst both were staggered in the seventh before Sandoval eventually made the breakthrough.
Former IBF bantamweight champion Paul Butler (33-2, 15 KOs) won a ten round split decision over Willibaldo Garcia (12-5-1, 6 KOs) in a bout for the vacant WBO International title. Butler dropped Garcia in the first round with scores at the end of the contest of 96-94, 97-92 Butler, 95-94 Garcia.
Junior welterweight prospect Pierce O’Leary (7-0, 3 KOs) remained unbeaten in knocking out Jan Marsalek (8-4, 7 KOs) with a beautiful left hook in round two.
Hosea Burton (26-2, 12 KOs) moved into pole position for a shot at the British light heavyweight title in scoring a sixth round KO over Liam Conroy (18-7-1, 9 KOs).
