WBC super flyweight champion Juan Francisco “Gallo” Estrada (41-3, 28 KOs) went to war with Carlos “Principe” Cuadras (39-4-1, 27 KOs) before securing a spectacular eleventh round stoppage on Friday night at TV Azteca Studios in Mexico City.
Both men as previously advertised engaged in toe-to-toe action throughout with Cuadras making the breakthrough in the third by dropping Estrada. The champion recovered well thereafter, never missing a beat as he upped the level of pressure to drop Cuadras twice in the eleventh before the inevitable stoppage came from the follow-up assault. Time was 2:22.
WBA super flyweight champion Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez (50-2, 41 KOs) retained his title with a one-sided twelve round unanimous decision against Israel “Jiga” Gonzalez (25-4, 11 KOs). Chocolatito broke down ‘Jiga’ in every round to secure scores of 118-110, 116-112, 117-111.
WBC flyweight champion “Rey” Julio Cesar Martinez (17-1, 13 KOs) needed just two rounds to put aside the challenge of Moises “Taz” Calleros (33-10-1, 17 KOs). Martinez dropped Calleros in round one and got the stoppage in the second. Time was 2:42.
