By Davy Trengove – At the lower levels, fighters struggle to balance the time and costs to not only train for their bout but also to try to sell tickets, raise funds for accommodation, nutrition supplements and kit and sponsors play a huge role in that.
Small hall fighters have to balance training, family life and usually a full time job in the hope that they can achieve their dreams but the truth is most don’t make it.

So next time you watch the boxing consider this….The small hall shows are just as important as the stadium bouts, the journeymen that fight at the drop of a hat to ensure shows go ahead are just as important as the World level fighters.
It may look all glitz and glamour on TV but the facts are that Boxing is a lonely and cruel business that will chew up and spit out many a fighter.
Most promoters are wolves in sheep’s clothing and many fighters are used as a product rather than a person.
It’s always said that winners are Lorded upon and losers are slated and forgotten in a heartbeat. The pressure at the top level is so straining to a person’s mental state of mind and boxers learn who is important in their lives in the wake of a defeat and in my opinion, anyone who laces up the gloves and steps through the ropes deserves the utmost respect.
The work that goes in behind the scenes must be appluaded and the fighters must be respected.
