Former four divisional world champion Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez (48-2, 40 KOs) stopped Diomel Diocos (14-6-3, 4 KOs) in the second round following his fifteen month lay-off.
Gonzalez looked in fine form as he unloaded with both hands throughout the two rounds the fight lasted. The beginning of the end started with a right hand that put the back of Diocos on the ropes before a barrage of shots allowed the referee to intervene to give an eight count, when the fight resumed, Gonzalez landed another combination of shots which brought the curtain down on the contest.
Chocolatito said afterwards, “I’ll regain the world belt in 2020 and dedicate it to Nicaragua and Japan.”
