The shock of the weekend came via the hands of the unheralded Adan Gonzales (5-2-2, 2 KOs) who welcomed two-time Olympic gold Medalist Robeisy Ramirez (0-1) to the professional ranks with a split decision victory.
The highly-rated Cuban was given a wake-up call on his introduction to the paid ranks as early as the opening seconds with Gonzalez dropping Ramirez with a short counter. Thereafter Gonzalez gaining confidence from the knockdown started to let his hands go, able to back up the Cuban. Ramirez slowly but surely got back into the contest, landing a pair of big left hands in the final seconds of the contest but it unfortunately for him it came too late, judging at ringside scoring the contest 38-37, 40-35 in favour of the underdog whilst one scored it in favour of Ramirez by 38-37.
