Former WBC champion Carlos Baldomir has been jailed for 18-Years for the repeated sexual abuse of a child.
48-Year-old, Baldomir held the WBC title for a ten month period in 2006, was arrested in 2016 following allegations that he had abused his daughter who at the start of the incident was just seven years old.
His trial was held in the Argentinian city of Santa Fe which started on July 25th and ended with the former world champion being handed down an 18 year sentence as he stuck his middle finger up to reporters in attendance.
Baldomir shot to fame by defeating Zab Judah in January 2006 in a mandatory challenge for the American’s title at Madison Square Garden.
He went on to defend his WBC Welterweight title and won the IBA welterweight title by defeating fan favourite Arturo Gatti in July 2006.
The win lead to a lucrative fight with Floyd Mayweather which he subsequently lost before the feat was replicated Vernon Forrest
