DETROIT SUPER FLYWEIGHT JA’RICO O’QUINN DISCUSSES OUTING ON HAMMER VS. SHIELDS AND WORLD TITLE AMBITIONS

Detroit’s Ja’Rico O’Quinn has big ambitions as he gets the chance to showcase his undoubted skills on one of the biggest cards of the year presented by Salita Promotions, as the Super Flyweight standout features on the undercard of the women’s super fight between Christina Hammer and O’Quinn’s former USA teammate Claressa Shields on April 13 in Atlantic City.

23-year-old O’Quinn is undefeated in his first 12 contests as a professional after a very successful amateur career which saw him become a multi-time national amateur champion and a USA national team representative amongst other honours. O’Quinn now looks to continue to transition his skills into the professional ranks.

The Michigan man opened up on his upcoming bout and plans going forward, “Firstly thank you to both my training team and my management team at Victory Sports and Entertainment for getting me these great opportunities alongside Salita Promotions. I’m always working hard in the gym and improving and the fans in Atlantic City will really enjoy my style I believe.

“The Super Flyweight division is buzzing but I’m taking one fight at a time but I really believe I have the ability to go all the way to the top. Fighters like Jerwin Ancajas and obviously Chocolatito Gonzalez are on my radar, of course, I want to be world champion and I am ready for anything my management team send my way.”

Ja’Rico continued, discussing his outstanding amateur career, “I won multiple national titles, Golden Gloves tournaments and I have represented the USA all over the world. There is a lot of politics in amateur boxing and I felt my style was more suited to the professional game so I made the decision to turn professional and I am delighted with how that is working out.”

Mike Leanardi from Victory Sports and Entertainment gave his take on one of their most exciting prospects Ja’Rico O’Quinn, “Ja’Rico is a really exciting prospect and I’m sure we will be guiding him into title victories in the not so distant future.

“He is an explosive fighter when he is on the front foot. You really get your money’s worth watching O’Quinn and I’m sure everyone who gets a chance to watch Ja’Rico will be as impressed as I am and will understand why we think he can go all the way in the sport.”
