10 Questions


The newest addition to the Matchroom Boxing USA family is the one that intrigues me most of all in 21-time national champion Otha Jones III, a fighter who will play a significant part of the puzzle for the promotion who if going by his amateur form alone, could become one of the superstars of the future.

Positioned on the railway line between New York City and Chicago, Toledo in Ohio is the place he calls home, a location that is best known for its production of Glass from the early 1880s that ironically became known as the “Glass City” It’s quite the assumption but dare I say Jones could potentially become one of the City’s biggest exports, following in the footsteps of Former IBF champion Robert Easter Jr and Olympic Gold Medalist Wilbert McClure.

A man of intellect mixed with athleticism as seen him excel in Wrestling as well as boxing, Otha is an easy pick to predict for great things in the future.

So that being said we decided to ask some basic questions of the star on this weeks episode of 10 Questions, hoping that it will give us, as well as yourselves a better understanding of a man who we are sure to hear a lot more from in the future, so without further ado, here are the results of said questioning:

1) Who is Otha Jones III outside the ring?

I’m a fun outgoing guy who loves to make people smile and play video games in my spare time, I’m a sponge to the game of life!

2) How did you make your start in boxing?

I set out to be the best in the sport. After seing YouTube sensation Pretty boy Bam Bam from Toledo, Ohio, I seen him go viral and I wanted to take it to the next level!

3) Can you tell us about your amateur career?

My Record was 281-13 in that time I won over 21 national titles, I beat all the best in the sport and cleared out my weight class plus I was a Youth Olympian

4) What was your Proudest moment?

Graduating high school with a 3.0 GPA and winning the Toledo city league Wrestling championships two years in a row.

5) What stands as your Proudest moment of your amateur career?

Winning the Gold medal in the Youth Continental Championships which gave me an opportunity to qualify for the Youth Olympics in Buenos Aries South America.

6) What was your reasoning behing signing with with Matchroom Boxing USA over other promotional companies?

They gave me the best opportunity and they showed most interest in me, I also believe they will move my career and get me the right exposure.

7) Which fighter from the past would you compare your boxing skills with?

Aaron Pryor

8) Can you tell us more about your professional debut and was you satisfied in your overall performance?

I was very satisfied with my performance they gave me three names to pick from and I choose the best name on the list, I thought I displayed my talent and showed my skills very well! I can’t wait to get back in the ring.

9) What do you wish to achieve from your professional career?

I want to break records by owning all the belts whilst helping the youth go down a better path, (kids stay off the streets)

10) Your thought of as one of the brightest prospects in the world but what separates you from the rest?

Me having a great team separates me from the rest, I have a great strategy coach, a great strength and conditioning coach and a great technique coach with this team no one can beat me!
