Former Four-Divisional champion Nonito Donaire (39-5, 25 KOs) dethroned the much fancied WBA Bantamweight champion Ryan Burnett (19-1, 9 KOs) after injury prompted the end of the bout after four rounds at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland.
Donaire will now face Zolani Tete after Burnett was made to take a knee in the fourth after suffering an apparent back injury.

In the Super Lightweight version of the World Boxing Super Series, there was not such upset, Josh Taylor (14-0, 12 KOs) scoring a seventh-round KO over Ryan Martin (22-1, 12 KOs).
Taylor took control of the contest from the opening bell, never allowing Martin back in as he dropped the American in the seventh which resulted in the bout being waved off by the referee. Taylor will now face Ivan Baranchyk in the semi-final.
