By Anthony Ritchie – Lewis Ritson seems to be a man on a mission at the moment, the current British Lightweight Champion will be hoping to continue his gathering momentum on Saturday 13th October 2018 at the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle, in front of a Partizan hometown crowd, as he challenges Belgian Francesco Pantera for the vacant European Lightweight Title.
Since beating Robbie Barrett in October 2017 for the British Title in Seven rounds, Ritson has had a busy 2018, defending three times against Joe Murray, Scott Cardle and Paul Hyland Jr, dispatching them in a combined total of four rounds, he followed that up with a warm-up against Oscar Amador who he beat in three rounds, while waiting for his chance to claim the European title.
He will challenge Francesco Pantera, who comes in with a record of 19-3, whilst tough and durable, with only four stoppages on his record, it is debatable whether Pantera will have the guile and power to keep Ritson at bay. Ritson, however, has power in both hands and will be looking to make an early breakthrough.
In keeping with his last four fights, Ritson will look to start quickly and if Pantera looks to engage, there will only be one winner, the smart money is on an Early Ritson stoppage, as he looks to manoeuvre himself into position for a world title challenge, in what is a talent-packed division.
