Ireland has a new World Champion, Unbeaten TJ Doheny (20-0, 14 KOs) captured the IBF Junior Featherweight crown with a points decision over Ryosuke Iwasa (25-3, 16 KOs) in Tokyo, Japan on Thurday.

In an upset of sorts, Doheny albeit hindered by a laceration to his right cheek in the first round, still had enough in the tank to land the more telling blows, outworking the former champion on route to a close but unanimous decision from the judges, scores totalled were 115-113, 116-112, and 117-112.
