2016 Olympian and new recipient of the Commonwealth title, Joe Cordina (8-0, 6 KOs) handed Sean “Masher” Dodd (15-4-1, 3 KOs) a one-sided unanimous decision at the Ice Arena Wales in Cardiff, Wales.

Headlining for the first time, Cordina showed no nerves of fighting in front of his home support using his speed to land combinations throughout although the scoring doesn’t tell the full story.

Dodd made the Welshman fight for every round, landing his own shots which brought a packed arena to its feet. Cordina, for the most part, was evasive, using his slickness and quickness of footwork to get him out of potentially sticky situations as he would rattle off combinations that would serve to gain the respect of the champion.

In the end, the right man had his hand raised by scores of 119-109, 117-112 and 120-109, but did so in a great learning fight for his future endeavours.

In a HUGE upset, female super featherweight Viviane Obenauf (13-4, 7 KOs) left fight fans shocked as she stopped the previously unbeaten star Natasha Jonas (6-1, 5 KOs) in round four to claim the WBA International belt.

2016 Olympic gold medalist Daniyar Yeleussinov (3-0, 1 KO) outscored former Liam William victim Gabor Gorbics (24-12, 14 KOs) over six rounds. Score was 60-54.

Newly signed Matchroom prospect Anthony Sims Jr (15-0, 14 KOs) stopped Stanislav Eschner (10-10-1, 6 KOs) in the fourth round.

Featherweight Gamal Yafai (15-1, 8 KOs) stopped Jose Aguilar (16-51-4, 6 KOs) in the third round.

Former British lightweight champion Scott Cardle (22-2-1, 7 KOs) outpointed Michael Mooney (8-52-1, 3 KOs) over six rounds.

Bantamweight Sean McGoldrick (7-0, 2 KOs) decisioned Dylan McDonagh (3-1, 1 KO) over six.
