By Lee Thornton – This weekend in Atlantic City, Russian Light heavyweight Dmitry Bivol looks to impress the masses once more on HBO.
Bivol the amateur boxing stand out with a record of 268-15 made his HBO debut in Monaco by viciously knocking out Trent Broadhurst.
Bivol then took on talented Cuban Sullivan Barrera, Bivol completely dominated a very experienced Barrera.
In this writers opinion, Bivol is the very best boxer in the Light heavyweight division.
Looking at his skill set Bivol throws a perfect jab and right hand, along with his counter-punching skills and his ability to control distance is flawless.
Bivol also has an underrated defence which I observed closely in his amateur fights. The right-hand serves as Bivol’s knockout weapon he throws that punch with impeccable accuracy. Bivol may also possess the best hand speed in the division.
Gennady Mashianov the trainer of Bivol deserves credit for the way Bivol throws those perfect Eastern European style hooks and for allowing Bivol to have a great game plan every time he steps inside the ring. It is clear from watching Bivol that he is learning from a real boxing teacher in Gennady Mashianov.
Last but not least, talented fighters need good advisors looking out for their career.
Manager Vadim Kornilov has worked with numerous big-name boxers such as Ruslan Provodnikov, Denis Lebedev, Alexander Povetkin and Egor Mekhontsev another Russian boxer with a deep amateur background. Kornilov has done a great job managing Bivol allowing him to gain exposure in the North American market.
Look for Dmitry Bivol to make a statement this weekend to the light heavyweight division.
The future is extremely bright for this talented humble Russian technician.
