Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez was on steroids in their first encounter according to Gennady Golovkin, saying he could see the needle marks on his muscles.

These recent comments came after Alvarez failed two drugs tests by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association, but the Mexican does not seem to be in danger of receiving a suspension.

Contaminated meat was the cause of the failed drugs test which found Clenbuterol in his system, Nevada State Commission are investigating the results but it is uncertain whether the May 5th rematch is in any danger of being cancelled.

Golovkin has been silent on the issue until recently, saying ‘Before the first fight, I knew he was not clean, Have a look at the video. He used some pills.

‘It was pretty obvious when his muscles were all with traces of injections. I’ve known it for a long time.’

Canelo has received the backing of the WBC and WBA which Golovkin insists are trying to cover up his cheating. ‘Come on, I told you, it’s not meat,’ Golovkin said

‘Canelo’s team are using these drugs and everybody’s trying to pretend it’s not happening. ‘This guy, he knows. This is not his first day in boxing. He proves he gets benefits from everyone and he can get away with it. ‘The commentators, commission, doping commission – this is a very bad business, (it’s) not sport. Check him on a lie detector and then we can find out everything.
