Western Australia’s Wes Capper is excited ahead of his step up in class against former World Middleweight Champion Sam Soliman.

The pair clash on March 17 at the Melbourne Pavilion for the IBF International Middleweight title. Capper opened up on how training has gone for his upcoming fight which could propel him into the top five of the IBF Middleweight Rankings.

He said, “Training is going great. The team has put together a plan and it will be up to me to execute it come fight night.

Capper continued, “It’s a fantastic opportunity that I can’t thank my team enough for pursuing this opportunity.

“Being tested and seeing what you’re made of is what this sports all about. I have no doubts that I’ll rise to the occasion on March 17.”

Sam Soliman has been a mainstay of Australian boxing for over a decade, competing at the top of the Australian boxing scene as well as the World scene. Capper elaborated on his opinion of his opponent in Melbourne.

He said, “Soliman has been around a long time and has fought everyone. He’s been a real road warrior for Aussie boxing.

“You have to respect a man that is always willing to step up and never duck anyone.”

The winner of the fight will be in line to fight for the IBF World Middleweight title in 2018. The Perth native opened up about how he feels the fight will play out and his plans for 2018.

He said, “Soliman has built a career on being a spoiler. It’s up to me to not let that happen. Either way, it’s a great fight for Aussie boxing.

“A World Rating is obviously the natural progression for any pro to chase. I want what every fighter wants, an invite to the big dance one day.”
