WBO Featherweight champion Oscar Valdez (23-0, 19 KO’s) survived a fourth round knockdown to decision Genesis Servania (29-1, 12 KOs) on Friday night at the Tucson Convention Center in Tucson, Arizona.
Valdez looked comfortable in the early stages, but in round four Servania shocked most observers by dropping the champion with a big right hand before rocking him again as the round came to a close.
Servania tasting blood in the water, went for the kill in the fifth but found himself on the canvas, Valdez responding with a left hook.
Both fighters had moments thereafter but Valdez showed the better stamina, pulling away down the stretch to record a unanimous decision by 116-110, 119-111, 117-109.
