Iain Wilson and St Andrew’s Sporting Club are delighted to announce the signing of highly rated Callen McAuley

McAuley joins the famous St Andrew’s Sporting Club setup brimming with enthusiasm as he enters the professional ranks. The Renfrew native opened up on what he did in the amateur ranks.

McAuley said, “I had around 55 amateur fights with 45 wins, I am a three time Scottish champion and a British champion. I have represented Scotland all over the world at Europeans etc.

He continued, “I was on the Scottish institute of sport programme which was for the road to the Commonwealth Games 2018 I was the only boy selected at 64kg, however, unfortunately the qualification tournaments for the Commonwealth Games were this year and I broke my hand at the beginning this year so could not qualify for the games.”

The Super Lightweight talent will be training under the guidance of his father and established Greenock Fight Figure Danny Lee. The 19 year old gave his take on his ambitions as he embarks on his journey in the professional game and his link up with St Andrew’s Sporting Club.

“I am young so I feel I am fully able to work my way up through the pro ranks and go on to win British titles and hopefully even World titles one day!

“I feel great I have known Ian Wilson since I was a little boy and he seen my first amateur bout so I feel like I will be well supported and well looked after by Ian Wilson and all those at St Andrews Sporting Club.

“I’d like to also add that throughout my whole boxing career instyle Kitchens and Bathrooms have supported me whenever I have needed them and are a key part in how I am where I am today. I can’t thank them enough.”

Callen will make his pro debut on September 9 at the Paisley Lagoon Centre on a bill that features Willie Limond vs Ryan Brawley and Scott Allan vs Kash Farooq II
