The upcoming fight between Saul Canelo Alvarez and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr has widely been hyped up by boxing fans, Mexican pride is on the line especially on Cinco De Mayo Weekend. However,  because of the high profile nature of the main event, Canada’s knockout artist David Lemieux’s fight against Marco Reyes has somewhat flown under the radar.

David Lemieux brings his one punch knockout power and vicious left hook to the undercard whilst Marco Reyes is possibly best known for his contest with Canelo’s counterpart, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

Reyes provides a decent opponent and should ask a few questions of Lemieux, possessing a high activity level along with good body work and a very durable chin.

I believe the betting favourite David Lemieux will win this fight via KO in the later rounds by breaking down the body of the durable Reyes.

On its completion If everything goes as planned, expect to see Canelo Alvarez and David Lemieux’s paths to collide, further adding to the speculation was Canelo Alvarez’ visit to Canada last year.

There is little doubt that a contest between Canelo and Lemieux would provide fireworks. Golden boy will look to capitalise on a fight between the two fighters, keeping negotiations in-house for their next venture.
