Questions lingered over Julius Indongo (22-0, 11 KO’s) before his unification with WBA champion Ricky Burns (41-5-1, 14 KO’s), even though he was the IBF Super Lightweight champion he remained an unknown quantity to most, which all changed on Saturday night.

The former Namibian Police Officer dominated every round on our scorecard to dethrone three-weight World champion Ricky Burns at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow.

Indongo a long, rangy, southpaw provided Burns with a complex puzzle that he wasnt able to solve through the testing twelve round distance, The Namibian’s reach advantage providing long left hands which hammered home on thier target with regularity.

Burns as we knew he would, showed a heart as big as his country in the defence of his title but found more than his match in Indongo who controlled the action from start to finish to take a unanimous decision by scores of 120-108, 118-110 and a rather quizzical 116-112.
