A short night was predicted from Saturday nights main event, the occasion called for it, Two of boxing’s biggest punchers squared off which left Curtis Stevens (29-6, 21 KOs) unconscious courtesy of a David Lemieux (37-3, 33 KOs) left hook in the third round at the Turning Stone Resort & Casino in Verona, NY.
Former IBF Middleweight world champion Lemieux traded bombs with Stevens in a fan friendly contest that lasted for the duration until a crushing left hook sent Stevens to the canvas with the look of concern momentarily etched on the faces of his team.
Stevens regained consciousness shortly afterwards, leaving the arena on a stretcher.

I told you what I was going to do tonight,” said Lemieux. “What I saw was a ‘check mate.’ The punch was made with perfect landing. I am in great shape, and I prepared myself for him. He is physically strong but nothing special. Stevens is a solid fighter, and we were successful. I wish him the best, and I hope he is OK.”
