Golden boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya was arrested early Wednesday Morning for driving under the influence in Pasadena, California.

The former four weight world champion was stopped for speeding in his Land Rover on Del Mar Boulevard, at which point the investigating officer smelled an alcoholic odour coming from the car before administering “a series of field sobriety tests” all of which he reportedly failed.

De La Hoya was later released from jail to his manager.

This latest news comes after a storied career full of incident, De La Hoya is no stranger to substance abuse having checked himself in to rehab twice, In 2011 following his admittance that he had issues with cocaine and alcohol and having suicidal thoughts, the latest coming just days before Saul Canelo Alvarez fight super fight with Floyd Mayweather.

De La Hoya failed to show on Wednesday at a news conference in Los Angeles to promote Golden Boy’s HBO Card on Saturday Night, it’s still unclear how the incident will affect his availability for the promotion this coming weekend. .
